Delivery Driver COVID-19 Response Plan preparation is critical to the safety of delivery drivers, their families, and their customers.
Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19
As independent contractors, delivery drivers are ultimately responsible for their own safety and the safety of others. Rapidgo Driver encourages all drivers to Develop an Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers are to furnish to each worker “employment and a place of employment, which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm.” As independent contractors are self-employed, the responsibility for your protection resides with you. Follow CDC guidelines and eliminate person-to-person contact of any kind. Remember, you are protecting your loved ones.
Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of “5 Weekly Outtakes,” a list of what got my attention ending this week, Apr 20, that impact delivery drivers.
Amazon Suspends Deliveries in France
Following a court order requiring Amazon to immediately improve worker protections from coronavirus infection, as well as limiting Amazon fulfillment to only essential items, Amazon responded by closing all 6 distribution warehouse locations in France. According to Forbes.com, Amazon hopes to reopen “soon”.
In response, workers are uniting in demands for better protection, while Amazon attempts to clarify the court’s requirements. In the meantime, a major supply chain ceases operation due to a lack of clarity and uncertainty in the current pandemic environment.
Uber Drivers Improvise to Stay in Service
Necessity is the mother and father of invention. Rideshare drivers keep their businesses open by innovative solutions to protecting themselves, their families, and their riders. A barrier between passengers and drivers may be easily installed.
What innovative measures have you developed for protection against infection? Let us know on Twitter with #5outtakes at the end so we can find it. Thanks!
New Norm for Out-of-state Drivers
Expedite drivers running into NYC are required to self-quarantine for 14 days according to signs along NY interstates. Many major expedite carriers are excluding service areas requiring quarantine post-delivery, leaving service to independent contractors willing to risk infecting themselves and others

Customers by Invitation Only
The lack of delivery drivers is creating a waiting list for Whole Foods home delivery. Amazon, famous for same-day and next-day delivery for their Prime customers, has made a delivery for their groceries and meals by invitation only.
Here’s hoping you find these topics valuable and worth your time. Each week we keep our finger on the pulse of what impacts delivery drivers and keep you alert to the latest tips to increase earnings. Please give us a like on FB and follow on IG & Twitter.
We’re looking to test out useful resources for new delivery drivers. Can you send me some feedback about what you think about this email or suggest topics of interest to you? Thanks!
